Meeting with staff of co-chairs of Congressional Bosnian Caucus

On March 21st, BAACBH representatives had a planning meeting with the legislative aides of Congressman Russ Carnahan (D-MO) and Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ), the co-chairs of the Congressional Bosnian Caucus. The Caucus is set to be officially registered during the last week of March, following which the two offices will invite other members of Congress to join the Caucus. BAACBH will be particularly key during this period as it works to galvanize the Bosnian American community's support. Once there is significant membership in the Caucus, the offices of Congressmen Carnahan and Smith will work with BAACBH to organize an inaugural reception.

We envisage the Congressional Bosnian Caucus as a vehicle for US support of necessary economic and political reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In practical terms, this will mean holding staff briefings as well as hearings on Capitol Hill on issues relating to constitutional reform, police reform, religious freedom, and other relevant issues. BAACBH looks forward to working with Congressmen Carnahan and Smith and thanks them for their continued interest in peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
