BAACBH Commends Sarajevo Canton for Honoring the Late U.S. Congressman McCloskey

The Assembly of Sarajevo Canton issued a decision on December 30, 2009 to name a bridge in the Sarajevo municipality of Novi Grad after the late U.S. Congressman Frank McCloskey, a six-term Democratic representative from the state of Indiana.

Congressman McCloskey (1939-2003) was one of the most outspoken and active supporters of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was one of the first in the U.S. Congress to call and passionately advocate for U.S. intervention to stop the aggression and genocide against the Bosnian people. He criticized the Clinton Administration for its passivity and expressed outrage over the barbaric treatment of innocent Bosnians, in particular the Bosniak people. During his time in office, Congressman McCloskey showed relentless commitment to the fight for humanity, calling for an end to the human rights abuses taking place in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

BAACBH joins the Sarajevo Canton in remembering the late U.S. Congressman Frank McCloskey, a true friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its people, and commends the Canton for taking this noble action.
