Southeast Europe Coalition Discusses NATO Enlargement

On January 20, 2012, the Southeast Europe Coalition and The Heritage Foundation hosted a luncheon, the topic of which was the upcoming NATO Summit in Chicago. A number of Deputy Chiefs of Missions from the Balkan region were in attendance as well as Congressional staff members. Ambassador Damir Dzanko, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of BiH to the United States attended and spoke about the country's readiness to join NATO and the overall benefits of NATO for BiH.  The Southeast Europe Coalition is comprised of organizations representing all countries of the region. We are currently working on a letter to President Obama and on gaining support from various members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate before the conference and NATO Summit in Chicago.

"We are all working together in order to help each other's countries get into NATO and the EU. We hope to make progress by May and hope that BiH solves the defense property issue so that it can finally join NATO's Membership Action Plan (MAP). NATO membership will guarantee security and economic stability within the region and it is very much needed if we are to create true democracies" said ACBH President, Admir Serifovic.
