The 16th Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide on Capitol Hill

On July 11, 2011 BAACBH together with distinguished guests Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Sven AlkalajHerzegovina, H.E. Sven Alkalaj, Ambassador Douglas Davidson, Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues at the U.S. Department of State, and Ms. Dijana Muminovic, Bosnian American documentary photographer commemorated the 16th Anniversary of Srebrenica Genocide on Capitol Hill. They addressed an audience of distinguished guests, U.S. Department of State officials, Congressional staff members, local NGO representatives and media and friends of BiH. 

Mr. Admir Serifovic, BAACBH President, delivered the opening remarks and thanked Congressman Smith (R-NJ), Congressman Carnahan (D-MO) as well as all members of the Congressional Caucus on Bosnia for their unwavering support of BiH and the Bosnian people. Mr. Serifovic also went on to say that in honor of the fallen victims, BAACBH calls upon all friends of BiH to support us in our work and urged U.S. Congress to designate July 11th as the Srebrenica Rememberance Day in the U.S. 

Douglas DavidsonIn honor of the fallen victims, BAACBH distributed handmade crochet flower petals made by the Mothers of Srebrenica that signify purity, peace and hope; and together with the speakers and guests expressed their deepest condolences and commitment to remember the Srebrenica genocide and to advocate for a stable and prosperous BiH.
